Handy Superabile: let’s break down accessibility barriers
In Europe, around one in four adults has some form of disability.
PisaMover is not indifferent to this fact and, for years, has been committed to making tourist transport a comfortable experience for everyone.
The duty towards inclusion has translated into accessible and tailor-made shuttle and parking services, capable of satisfying the needs of each of our customers.
What measures have been adopted to support disabled people?
Our exchange car parks (Aurelia and Goletta) are equipped with ticket issuing columns that can be reached by car, and have a total of 25 parking spaces reserved for people with disabilities, 3 of which are covered. Furthermore, the toilets at the exit of the Aurelia car park are equipped to accommodate disabled people.
The route from the car park to the airport, passing through the shuttle stop, is facilitated by PVC tactile maps, with loges system and color contrast, to guarantee orientation support for blind or partially sighted people.
Elevators, stairs, buttons and keyboards are equipped with braille and embossed labels, placed at a maximum height of 111 cm. The elevators have a large cabin door, equipped with a support handle and a light and voice signal.
Access to the Pisa Mover shuttle for people in wheelchairs is indicated by clear signs and is level. The interior of the carriages has reserved seats with an emergency button.
Our Handy Superbile certification
We are proud that these efforts to participate in accessible tourism have been recognized and rewarded by Handy Superabile. Through the “Itaca Project”, a European cooperation initiative led by the Pisa Health Society, this non-profit association provides validated information on the usability of tourist services, promoting hospitality for those with motor and/or sensory disabilities worthy of the name.
